About

Paloma is a violinist for hire in Preston, VIC.

Classical training on violin, then twenty years of pulling that training in other directions. Paloma plays pop, rock and Latin American music alongside the classical repertoire, so a single event can move from Bach's Air on the G String during canapes to Piazzolla's Libertango later, then Adele or Stand By Me when the mood shifts. The set list runs long and wide: ABBA, Billie Eilish, Bill Withers, Alicia Keys, Billy Joel. Backing tracks come either from the original arrangement or stripped back to a lighter acoustic bed with piano or guitar underneath the violin. A speaker can be supplied. Based in Preston, working weddings, dinner music and restaurant events around Melbourne.

Watch

The show

Violin over backing tracks, and you get a say in how those tracks sound. Paloma can run the original arrangement of a song, or a lighter version with just piano or guitar sitting underneath the violin, which suits canapes and dinner far better than a full production. The set list gets built with you rather than handed to you, so a conversation about the shape of your day comes first. Bach during drinks, Piazzolla later, something like Adele or Stand By Me when the mood shifts. Specific song requests are possible, though ask about those early since they change what she needs to prepare.

On the day

Paloma can bring her own speaker along with the backing tracks, so a venue without any sound gear is not a problem. Power near where she'll be playing, and a spot where the violin isn't fighting the room.

Performance options

Weddings, canape and dinner music, and restaurant events are the three things she's set up for. All solo violin, all built around the same flexible backing arrangements.
