About
Conall Cassidy is a singer for hire in Launceston, TAS.
One person, but it doesn't sound like it. Conall Cassidy uses a loop station to build the parts up live until a full band is coming out of the corner, then strips it back to a plain acoustic song when the mood calls for it. He's been playing around the Launceston region for several years. The set mixes soulful, honest originals with covers people know: Superstition, No Diggity, Feel Good Inc., Gravity, Big Jet Plane, In the Summertime, Fly Me to the Moon, plus Boy and Bear, Matt Corby, Crowded House, Paul Kelly, Ocean Alley and Mumford and Sons. He sometimes brings a colleague on electric guitar and vocals for harmonies and guitar solos. All he needs is a power point and a spot out of the walking traffic.
Watch
The show
Honest, soulful acoustic songs of his own sitting alongside upbeat covers the room already knows. It moves between the two rather than staying in one gear all night, so there's something to listen to over dinner and something to lift the mood later on. That balance is the point of a solo player who can do both.
On the day
A power point is genuinely all he needs, since everything else comes with him. Where you put him matters though. Keep him out of the path guests walk along, because leads and people don't mix and something gets tripped over. A raised stage works, and so does the corner of a room.
Performance options
A colleague on electric guitar and vocals joins him fairly often, which fills the sound out with harmonies and proper guitar solos. Worth considering for the livelier events.
