About
Mass Musik is a singer-songwriter for hire in Brisbane, QLD.
Mass came to Brisbane from the UK with a bass player's ear and decades of live and studio work behind him. R&B, rock, jazz, soul, reggae and gospel have all been on the job sheet at some point, alongside a good stretch of sound and music production, and he's worked with artists in several countries. He's a singer and songwriter as well as an instrumentalist, and he leads bands as readily as he sits in the back line of one. The list of things he'll cover as a solo act is long: gospel and blues, funk, hip hop, jazz guitar, Caribbean and African material, Christmas carols. If you want a musician who can talk arrangement as well as play it, that's the pitch.
The show
Mass is an electric bass player first, and a well seasoned one, with the groove sitting where a bass player thinks it should. But he doesn't stop at the instrument. He leads bands, writes songs, sings, and works as a consultant and reviewer on other people's music too. Book him and you get somebody who has sat in every seat in the room, which shows up in how quickly he reads what a set needs.
