About
Amber Farnan is a singer-songwriter for hire in Cairns, QLD.
Missy Higgins took her on as an opening act, and the Queensland Symphony Orchestra has performed her original music with her. Amber Farnan is a Cairns singer songwriter whose support slots run deep too: The Jezabels, Stella Donnelly, Jaguar Jonze, Tia Gostelow, Katy Steele. Cover sets range from Riptide and Wonderwall through to Space Oddity and Smells Like Teen Spirit, with her own songs threaded in between. She plays solo or as a duo, needs only power at the venue, and carries public liability insurance.
Watch
The show
A big voice and songs that do not hide anything. Amber writes personal material and sings it that way, with the lyrics carrying real images rather than vague feeling, and she holds a stage without needing to work hard at it. Around the originals sits a wide book of upbeat covers, chart songs and older standards alike, all played in her own style rather than copied. Requests get taken on the night, which keeps the set moving with the room. Add her duo partner and the sound fills out considerably: harmonies, bass guitar and a stomp box underneath for rhythm and weight.
