About
Rubatuba is a musical duo for hire in Conondale, QLD.
The show
Rubatuba call it happy music, and colourful is the right word for what turns up. Toes start tapping, toddlers start jigging, and older guests get a bit misty about tunes they haven't heard in decades. It works particularly well at family events, festivals, markets and parties where all ages are mixed together. Weddings are covered too, and for the solemn parts of the day they switch to harp and stick bass, or the travel tuba, which suits a ceremony far better than the party set would.
On the day
Shade, if they're playing outside. And somewhere safe to leave the instrument cases while they're on, which sounds minor until you picture a market crowd wandering past a pile of open cases. A back room or a corner behind the stage is plenty.
Performance options
Three sets, each of them 30 to 40 minutes, fitted inside a three hour window: that's the usual booking. Weddings get their own option, a multi instrument version with more going on than the standard set.
