About
Midnight Train is a musical duo for hire in Brisbane, QLD.
Kelly and Allison have been playing acoustic music together across Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast for more than a decade, and Midnight Train is what came out of it: a piano lounge sound built for the parts of an event where people are talking. Norah Jones and Billy Joel, Amy Winehouse and Lady Gaga, with old time jazz and Motown threaded through. They bring a compact digital piano that fits any venue, and need a power point and about a metre by three of floor. Weddings, corporate functions and private parties are the usual settings. Ten years of cocktail hours means very little surprises them.
The show
A piano lounge sound, pitched for the parts of a night where people are talking and you want music underneath rather than over the top. Norah Jones, Billy Joel, Amy Winehouse, Lady Gaga, with old time jazz and Motown threaded through, so there's something in there for most of the room. Kelly and Allison have been doing cocktail hours together across Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast for over a decade, and it shows in the way the music slots into the running order without anyone having to manage it.
On the day
A power point and roughly one metre by three of floor. Their digital piano is a compact, portable one, so it fits into rooms where an upright never would and there's no piano hire to organise at your end.
Song list
Cocktail music, including popular covers, jazz standards, and hints of soul and motown.
