About

Lil B n' Brooksy is a musical duo for hire in Brisbane, QLD.

You'll find Lil B n' Brooksy at the Empire Hotel in the Valley most Sunday nights. It's a Brisbane duo built for parties, old tunes and new ones, with Lil B on vocals and percussion and Brooksy handling guitar, vocals, sax and a loop station. Those loops matter: they build drum beats and bass lines underneath, so two people fill a room like a band. Ain't No Sunshine, Billie Jean, Blinding Lights, Bohemian Rhapsody, Better Together, the songbook covers a lot of ground because the crowds do too. And if you want more bodies on stage, they'll add bass, drums, keys and a second guitarist to make four, five or six pieces. Quiet background atmosphere or full dance floor, your call.

The show

Old songs, new songs, whatever gets the room going. Lil B n' Brooksy are a duo, but the loop station means guitar and keyboard build drum beats underneath, so it sounds like more people are up there than actually are. Their repertoire is wide on purpose, because they play to young crowds and older ones and often both in the same night. They can sit back and provide atmosphere, or push it into party territory. Tell them which one you want.

Performance options

The core is the two of them: Lil B on vocals and percussion, Brooksy on guitar, vocals, sax and the loop station. From there it scales. Add bass, drums, keyboards and a second guitarist and you're up to a six piece, or stop anywhere in between at four or five. What you pick depends on what the event needs to do, so it's worth telling them the size of the room and whether you want dancing.
