About
Darryl Chaplain is an MC for hire in Mareeba, QLD.
Forty years on the microphone at rural events, starting at 16 as arena announcer for the Big Mareeba Rodeo, the largest ABCRA rodeo in the country. Since then the work has covered the Cairns Show, large camp drafts and most rural events in between, plus horse sports, weddings, parties and corporate functions. Rodeo and horse commentary is the specialty, and it needs someone who actually knows the sport. The other half of the service is production: PA supply, sound management, music programming and running the order of the day so the program keeps moving. Based in Mareeba.
The show
You are hiring a voice and a sound system together. Darryl takes the microphone as compere, and outdoor work is where he is most at home: rodeos, horse events and the sort of show where the commentary has to explain what is happening in the arena as it happens. He knows those sports properly, so the calling is informed rather than generic. The second half is production. A PA and sound system can be supplied to suit the size of the event, and he will handle the music programming and keep the running order moving so the day does not stall between items.
