About
Double Time Jazz is a jazz duo for hire in Brisbane, QLD.
Kate Carlyle sings, Jordan Asmussen sings and plays piano, and between them they work through the Great American Songbook the way it was meant to be heard. Summertime, Fly Me To The Moon, At Last, Georgia On My Mind, Lullaby Of Birdland, The Girl From Ipanema. It's a sophisticated presentation, and both are good at reading a room and adjusting, which matters more at a wedding or a corporate dinner than raw volume ever does. Brisbane based. The duo scales up to a trio with double bass, or to a full band with saxophone, guitar, brass and drums. All they need on site is power and cover from the weather.

The show
Kate Carlyle on vocals and Jordan Asmussen on vocals and piano work through the Great American Songbook, the era when a lyric was written to tell a story and the melody was built to carry it. Both hold a real affection for this material, and it comes through in the delivery. The presentation is polished rather than showy. They read the mood of a room and shift with it, which is why they've held up in front of demanding audiences. The booking scales as well: duo, trio, or a full band if the occasion warrants it.
