Kylie Southwell and Paul Henderson graduated from the Queensland Conservatorium in 1999 and 2000, and have played together ever since, alongside plenty of Brisbane's better musicians. As Firefly they've worked hundreds of weddings and corporate events across south east Queensland. Their repertoire spans five eras of jazz, so the night can be cocktail lounge smooth, up tempo and swinging, or drift into French, Latin and folk material. Add bassist Peter Walters and it becomes a trio built for tempo. Add drummer Mark Henman as well and the Firefly Quartet covers everything from ballads and sultry blues through to funk and afro feels.

Our function was a resounding success. And dealing with “ Bands Australia” and Firefly duo was such a pleasure. Right from the start your communication was so great that I felt that I didn’t have to worry about my musicians not turning up etc. Your assistance with helping me understand what is involved in hiring entertainment and what I have to do was so very helpful. It was much appreciated. Firefly duo were superb. They showed up in great time for starting and were so friendly and warm. Their talent far exceeded their sound bite on your website( which I fell in love with) and they were so talented. My clients are still talking about the music. I am thinking of hiring them for my 60th birthday in a few years but will recommend your website and them as often as I can. I now know where my circle of people can go to find Brisbane entertainment and I have a huge bookmark on your site. I organise the same function every year and know where I can find next year’s muso’s! Thank you for your great service, excellent communication and kindness.
