Stand in Tweed Heads and Coolangatta is across the street, so it's no surprise that most of what the search finds is based on the Gold Coast rather than in New South Wales. The ring runs up through Broadbeach and Surfers Paradise and down to Kingscliff, which makes this one of the deeper lists on the site: singers, cover bands, duos and DJs in real numbers, plus the Gold Coast's comedians, speakers and show acts. One warning before you book any of them: from October to April, Queensland and New South Wales run on different clocks, and a Gold Coast band told to start at seven can walk in at what your guests call eight.
The Tweed side has its own pocket, and it's a different flavour. Kingscliff and Tweed Heads are where the local solo musicians, the wedding singers and the kids' costume characters live, and they sit on the list alongside the bigger Queensland names. For a wedding on a Tweed Coast beach or a hinterland property, a local soloist for the ceremony and a Gold Coast band for the reception is a common and sensible combination.
Top picks are the nearby performers with the most visible reviews, then rating, then the closest; further afield the closest come first, and premium listings break remaining ties. Distances are straight-line from Tweed Heads. Ask each act whether they travel to your venue and what that costs.
The soloists, the wedding singers and the kids' characters, mostly, based in Tweed Heads, Banora Point and down at Kingscliff. The bands, DJs and comedians are nearly all Queensland acts from Coolangatta up to Surfers Paradise. It matters for two things: the clock in summer, and whether the act treats a Murwillumbah or Cabarita job as home ground or a trip.
From the Gold Coast, almost certainly, which has the depth in stand-ups that the Tweed doesn't. Send the crowd size, the venue and whether it's a club, a surf club or a private function, and ask how blue the set gets, because a coastal club room on a Friday and a corporate dinner want different comics. Then put 'NSW time' on the start time, or a comedian from Broadbeach may arrive as your guests are leaving.
Tweed Heads itself, no. Kingscliff and Cabarita usually not, though some bands based north of Broadbeach will add a small line. Murwillumbah and the hinterland properties toward Uki are where a travel charge becomes normal, and where you should say the road is unsealed if it is. The Tweed-based soloists on this list have none of that in the quote, which is one reason to use them for the ceremony.
Ask the council and the venue before you ask the act, because the beach parks along Kingscliff and Cabarita have their own rules on speakers and finish times. A solo singer with a battery-powered rig is the safe ceremony choice, and a Gold Coast band for the reception in a venue that's already sorted the sound is the usual pairing.
Put 'NSW time' next to every start time in your notes, and say it again when the quote comes back. It sounds fussy. It's also the easiest way a cross-border booking goes wrong in summer.
Tweed Heads is a short hop down the motorway for anyone based on the Gold Coast, and working both sides of the border is normal for them. Ask about travel only if you're heading further south, towards Byron Bay or Ballina.
If the Queensland act you wanted is gone on your date, the Kingscliff and Byron Bay pages give you a second pool on the same side of the border, without the daylight-saving problem. The Northern Rivers has a strong wedding scene of its own.
