Weddings drive the Sunshine Coast. Singers and wedding singers sit at the top of the trade mix here, then soloists, guitarists and duos, and the reason is simple: a ceremony on the sand at Caloundra or under the trees at Maleny wants one voice and one guitar, not a five-piece. The bands are on the list too, but if you're reading this for a corporate night or a fiftieth, you'll be picking from a smaller pool than the wedding couples are.
Most acts give their base as Sunshine Coast, with Buderim, Caloundra, Maroochydore and Sippy Downs named, and a few up the range in Maleny. Noosa Heads has its own page, so look there too if your venue is up that end. To the acts it's one region, though. A Buderim singer will do a Noosa ceremony in the afternoon and a Caloundra reception that night, and none of them think twice about the drive.
Top picks are the nearby performers with the most visible reviews, then rating, then the closest; further afield the closest come first, and premium listings break remaining ties. Distances are straight-line from Sunshine Coast. Ask each act whether they travel to your venue and what that costs.
For a coast wedding the DJ's price depends on whether they're running the ceremony sound and the formalities as well as the dancing, how many hours, and what they bring in the way of PA and lighting. A hinterland venue up the range at Maleny or Montville adds a drive to the quote that a Maroochydore reception doesn't. Spring Saturdays are the top of the range. The from-prices shown beside each Sunshine Coast DJ on this page are today's starting points.
Within the coast, anywhere: Caloundra to Noosa and up the range is normal work and mostly unmentioned on a quote. Gympie, the Fraser Coast and Brisbane are where travel starts to appear as its own line, along with accommodation if the finish is late. Ask where the act would drive from and let them price the run.
There are bands, but fewer than in Brisbane, and they get asked about the same spring and autumn Saturdays as the singers. If your reception needs a five-piece and the local bands are gone, the Brisbane page is an hour and a half down the highway and its acts will quote for the trip. For a smaller room, a duo with a second louder set is often the better buy anyway.
Winter, June to August, and the tail end of summer. The weather is still good enough for an outdoor wedding in July, warmer than most of the country, and the singers and duos who are booked solid in October have weekends to spare. A midweek date in any month is easier again.
Plenty of the soloists here play the ceremony, then the canapes, then plug in a bigger rig for the dance floor. Ask if the act does the whole day before you book three separate people.
September to November, and again in March and April, is when the beach and hinterland weddings pile up on the coast. Send your date before you send a single question about songs.
Wind and surf eat a small speaker. If the ceremony is on the sand, ask the act what PA they bring and whether they've played that spot before; a singer who's done Mooloolaba in a northerly knows what the day needs.
