There's a soul and R&B singer living at Brushgrove, which for a settlement of a few streets on a bend of the Clarence is a lot better than nothing. Grafton is next, twenty minutes up the river, with a wedding band, a duo and a solo musician, and then Yamba at the river mouth. Everything after that is Coffs Harbour, and Coffs is eighty kilometres down the Pacific Highway.
Cane country weddings out here tend to happen on family farms at Ulmarra, Lawrence and Cowper, in a shed or on a lawn with the river behind it. Lovely, and a pain for anyone carrying a PA, which is exactly why the two acts closest to you are worth the first message.
Top picks are the nearby performers with the most visible reviews, then rating, then the closest; further afield the closest come first, and premium listings break remaining ties. Distances are straight-line from Brushgrove. Ask each act whether they travel to your venue and what that costs.
As far as Grafton and the villages beyond it, routinely, though an hour each way and a late pack-down will sit somewhere in the price. The Coffs list carries the variety this stretch of coast is short of, including a string quartet and a fire show. Ask each one whether the drive is inside the fee or beside it.
There's a singer in the village and a wedding band and a duo at Grafton, and between them a ceremony, canapes and a dinner are covered without anyone driving far. For a loud reception with a dance floor you'll be looking at Grafton or further. Send the local one your date first, because there's only one.
Usually not, since most acts bring their own, but a riverbank ceremony with no power nearby is worth flagging. Some performers carry a battery speaker for exactly that and some can't. Ask, and ask about the wind off the water while you're at it.
The distance on each card is doing real work on this page. Two acts are a short river drive away and the rest are a highway job, so read the kilometres before you read the photos.
A shed with three-phase and a lawn with a lead running from the kitchen are different gigs. Say which one you've got, and whether the last stretch of the driveway is dirt, because gear gets carried the final twenty metres either way.
The jacarandas bring the whole valley's events into a fortnight and the Grafton acts go first. If your date is anywhere near it, ask before you've booked the caterer.
