Two lists live on this page. The first is the mountains' own: a cover band, a jazz band, a wedding singer, a hula hoop act, a tarot reader and a couple of wedding duos from Katoomba, Wentworth Falls and the villages between, and they come first because they're closest. Scroll on and the second list begins, which is western Sydney's, mostly from Penrith and Erskine Park at the bottom of the hill, and it's bigger than the first.
That's not a flaw, it's how the mountains have always worked. A Penrith band drives up the Great Western Highway for a Leura or Blackheath wedding every weekend, and a Katoomba duo drives down for a Nepean birthday. What changes is the cold and the fog: an August reception at Blackheath is a different job from one at Glenbrook, and the acts who live up top know it.
Top picks are the nearby performers with the most visible reviews, then rating, then the closest; further afield the closest come first, and premium listings break remaining ties. Distances are straight-line from Blue Mountains. Ask each act whether they travel to your venue and what that costs.
Yes, and for the lower mountains they barely count it as travel. From Katoomba up it's a different conversation: an hour and a half from the inner city, a fog-bound drive home after midnight, and often a request for accommodation. Western Sydney and Penrith bands are the practical middle ground, and plenty of them are on this page already.
Look at the from-prices on this page for the mountain and Penrith bands, then add the things a mountains wedding adds. Travel up the highway is one, and an outdoor ceremony in a garden at Leura with no power nearby is another, because the band brings a second rig for it. Winter is the quiet season up here, so a July date tends to get a better answer than an October one.
It can, but the act needs to know it's outdoors before they quote. Mist, cold fingers and damp gear are the problems, so most mountain acts will ask for a marquee side or a verandah and a heater near the players. A jazz band or a singer with a small PA handles it better than a full band with a drum kit that has to stay dry.
Above Katoomba, winter nights drop near freezing and mist rolls through the afternoon. Any outdoor set needs power, cover and a plan to move inside, so ask the act what they do when the cloud comes in.
Glenbrook to Lithgow is more than an hour of winding road. A Penrith band is minutes from the lower mountains and a long way from Mount Victoria, so put the town in the enquiry and let the distance on each card guide you.
The lower mountains and the Nepean share their acts with Penrith, which has a page of its own. If your venue is at Springwood or below, read both lists; if it's Katoomba or beyond, the mountain acts are the ones to start with.
