About

Pyro Passion is a fire performer for hire in Adelaide, SA.

Fire dance meets acrobatics. Mark Bleby brings 17 years in fire performance and martial arts, Kate Lawrence is an international circus artist, and together they build shows around that combination. Pyro Passion can rove through a crowd for something close up and personal, or work as a choreographed stage act. Adelaide based, and available for feature sets or roving packages shaped around the event. Stage shows need at least 2.5 by 2.5 metres; roving needs enough clear space to keep the audience safe, judged on the night by the performers. Indoors, smoke alarms have to be switched off. They carry extinguishers, fire blankets and spotters to every performance, and a fire safety plan is available.

Watch

The show

Fire handling and circus training in the one act, which shows up in what they can do with the props. Mark has seventeen years in fire performance and martial arts behind him, Kate works internationally as a circus artist, and the show is built out of what those two backgrounds do together rather than one performer plus a partner. Roving puts the flames close to your guests, which is the version people remember, and a lot of phones come out. The stage show is choreographed and more of a set piece. Both are worth watching from the first minute rather than politely waiting for the finale.

On the day

For a stage act, two and a half metres square is the minimum, and more is better. Roving is judged on the night by the performers, who need enough clear room to keep the audience at a safe distance while they move through the crowd. Indoors, every smoke alarm in the space has to be switched off first, so that's a conversation with your venue rather than with them. They bring extinguishers, fire blankets and spotters to every job, and there's a fire safety plan you can request if your venue asks for one.

Performance options

Two shapes to work with. A feature act is a set piece the room stops and watches, good for a moment in the run sheet where you want everyone facing the same direction. A roving set spreads across the night instead, with the performers moving through your guests. Either can be shaped around the event: how long, how many sets, where in the evening they land. Tell them what the night looks like and they'll suggest which way round works.
