About
Detour is a cover band for hire in Perth, WA.
Funk and soul is the whole brief here. Detour formed in Perth in 2004 and built their sound on Stevie Wonder, Sam Cooke, Donny Hathaway, Marvin Gaye and James Brown, then pushed it forward with the hip hop and R&B of Soulive, The Roots, A Tribe Called Quest and D'Angelo. Xpress Magazine called them Australia's number one funk and soul band back in 2007. The line-up runs vocals, drums, sax, bass and keys, and the players improvise rather than stick to the record. Sets move from slow jams to gritty funk. They've played Quarry Amphitheatre, Metro City, The Deen, Llama Bar and Universal Bar, and they take weddings, festivals, concerts and corporate nights.
