About
The Magic Pyjama Party is a children's magician for hire in Windsor, VIC.
Pyjamas are the dress code. That's the whole idea behind The Magic Pyjama Party, a magic show built around dreams and the daft places they take you, where the kids turn up in their cosiest gear and the adults are welcome to do the same. Visual magic, shadow puppetry, storytelling and a fair bit of goofy clowning, with plenty of moments where a child gets pulled into the act. The show squeezes into a one bedroom living room with half an hour to set up, and it scales the other way too, onto a theatre or council event stage with a custom teddy bear backdrop. Audiences from Melbourne to Adelaide have seen it. Working with children check and public liability cover are in place.
Watch
The show
Guests turn up in pyjamas, adults included, and the show runs from there. Visual magic first, with silly clowning, storytelling and children pulled up to help throughout, so nobody sits still for long. The tone is cosy rather than loud, which means the grown-ups can hold a cup of tea and still follow every bit of it. Audiences right across from Melbourne to Adelaide have sat through this one. It's a magic show with a dressing gown on, and that framing does most of the work before the first trick lands.
On the day
The show is deliberately portable. A one bedroom living room is enough floor space, and half an hour is enough time to get everything ready. At the other end of the scale it takes a theatre stage, a council event or a school hall, where a 3 by 6 metre backdrop covered in teddy bears and cut-out shapes goes up behind the performance. Tell them which of those you've got when you enquire and they'll bring the version that fits.
