About
Jolly Jay is a children's magician for hire in Essendon, VIC.
Balloons and magic, in whatever order suits your party. Jolly Jay does close-up and roving magic, a stage show, and balloon twisting that goes well past the standard dog, taking requests for favourite animals or working to a party theme. Stage magic runs 15, 30 or 45 minutes. Close-up can stretch to an hour or more, and balloon twisting from half an hour up to two. Award-winning magic is the headline, but the balloon work is what the kids talk about afterwards. Based in Essendon. Arrival is 15 to 20 minutes early for roving, half an hour when there's a PA to set up.
On the day
Two different arrival times, depending on what you've booked. Roving magic and balloon twisting need Jolly Jay on site 15 to 20 minutes ahead of the start, which is enough to run through the props one last time. The stage show is half an hour, because there's a PA to get up and working as well as the props to check. Nothing else is asked of you beyond somewhere to put him.
Performance options
Two things on offer, and plenty of parties take both. The magic is the award-winning end of it, built for kids and aimed at the moment where they can't work out what just happened. The balloon twisting is the other half, and it goes further than the standard dog. Guests name an animal, or you give Jolly Jay your party theme and he works to it. Kids go home holding something, which is the bit parents tend to underestimate.
