About
The Funtones is a children's band for hire in Melbourne, VIC.
Lisa and Mark are the Funtones, and their live show has been nominated by What's On 4 Kids. They released a debut album in 2023 that hit number one on the iTunes Children's Music chart the day it came out. Sets run 15, 20, 30 or 45 minutes, mixing originals like We're the Funtones, The Air Band and Dancing Like Spaghetti with the songs every kid already knows, plus a Christmas list when the season calls for it. Shows are aimed at children up to five, and the whole thing is built so the kids are part of it rather than sitting still. They've played the Good Friday Appeal Kids Day Out, Moonee Valley Festival and the Melbourne International Comedy Festival. Full PA supplied, insured, and all members hold Working With Children Checks.

The show
Lisa and Mark aim the show at children up to five, and every part of it is built so the kids are doing something rather than sitting watching. Sets come in four lengths, 15, 20, 30 or 45 minutes, so it can fit a library session or a full festival slot. The songs mix their own material, We're the Funtones, The Air Band and Dancing Like Spaghetti, with the ones every child in the room already knows, and there's a Christmas set when the season calls for it. Their live show has been nominated by What's On 4 Kids, and they've played the Good Friday Appeal Kids Day Out, Moonee Valley Festival and the Melbourne International Comedy Festival.
On the day
They can bring the full PA themselves, two speakers, a mixer and headset microphones, in which case all they need from you is access to power outlets. If your venue already has its own sound system they're happy to plug into that instead. One thing to check either way: the show runs on backing tracks, so whatever system gets used has to be able to play them. Worth confirming with the venue before the day rather than discovering it ten minutes out.
