The Bopalongs is a children's band for hire in Cheltenham, VIC.
Original songs, written to teach something without the kids noticing. The Bopalongs run a 30 to 45 minute stage show built around finger plays, simple dance steps, costumes, props and a comic storyline that children can follow. Themes line up with current educational standards, covering things like morning routines and hygiene, and the whole thing is interactive from start to finish. The show is self-contained: backdrop, PA, headsets, lighting, instruments, costumes, the lot. All that's needed is power. It scales up or down for bigger or smaller groups, and a costumed mascot character can join larger performances. Cheltenham based. Working with children checks, police checks and insurance are current, and they're an APRA AMCOS member.

The show
A 30 to 45 minute stage show, and the kids are in it rather than watching it. The Bopalongs write their own songs, upbeat ones built around finger plays, actions and dance steps simple enough for little children to follow first go. There's a comic storyline running underneath with sound effects, props, costumes and guitar, so it plays as theatre with music rather than a singalong. The themes are chosen deliberately: daily routines, health and hygiene, shapes, counting, colours, safety, all lined up with current educational standards. The teaching is real, but the children don't notice it happening. That's the trick of it.
On the day
Power. That's the only thing the venue has to supply. Everything else arrives with them and goes up as one self-contained set: pull-up backdrops and signage, PA, headset microphones, lighting, instruments, costumes and props. It works indoors or outdoors, and the show adapts to a big crowd or a small one without changing shape much. Roving guitar and nursery favourites can run before and after the main set if you want the entertainment to stretch either side of it.
Performance options
Everything starts from the 30 to 45 minute stage show of original songs. It can be extended if your event needs more, and children's cover songs that every kid already knows, Baby Shark included, can go into the set alongside the originals. For larger performances a dressed-up mascot character can come along as well, which gives smaller children something to run at during the show.
