About
Live Cartoon-Caricaturist Nationwide is a caricaturist for hire in Brisbane, QLD.
Wayne Fleming draws quick cartoon caricatures, about six minutes each, head and shoulders in black and white. He'll draw people one at a time, in groups, or fit an entire crowd onto one poster sized board, which works well for staff parties and weddings. Being a cartoonist as well as a caricaturist, he throws in gags, comic book speech bubbles and headers to suit whoever's in the chair. His manner is congenial and comic, so even the people who insist they photograph badly relax once they sit down. Page templates can be printed beforehand with your logo, ornate borders, background themes or full bodies, superhero included. Packaging options run to mailing tubes, laminating and plastic sleeves. He needs about two square metres, a table and four chairs, decent light and shelter from the weather. Brisbane based, working nationwide.
The show
Wayne draws people individually, in groups, or fits an entire crowd onto one poster sized board, which is a good option for a staff party or a wedding where you want something to keep afterwards. He's a cartoonist as well as a caricaturist, so gags, headers and comic book speech bubbles get worked in to suit whoever's sitting for him. And his manner does half the job. Even the nervous ones, the people who insist they never photograph well, relax once they're in the chair.
On the day
About two square metres is enough, with a table and four chairs. Reasonable light matters, since he's drawing detail at speed. Somewhere away from the weather and away from the busiest thoroughfare works best, so he's not being knocked about mid drawing. If your venue is in a CBD building or a large complex, mention the vehicle access situation when you enquire so the load in can be sorted out ahead of the day.
Performance options
The standard booking is Quick Caricatures: pen and ink on paper, black and white, head and shoulders, roughly six minutes a person. If you need more faces drawn in the same window, ask about Speed Caricatures, which trade a little detail for pace. Wayne works anywhere in Australia and will consider overseas work too, with Brisbane as his main patch and the Sunshine Coast close to home. One practical note: his van stands 2.3 metres, so a close unrestricted parking spot needs to be set aside for him.
