Lillian is a caricaturist for hire in Sydney, NSW.
Lillian draws your guests. She takes a quick photo so nobody has to sit still, then works the portrait up in watercolour, Copic marker and fineliner on 300gsm paper while the party carries on around her. Guests collect their A5 illustration by the end of the night, sleeved and ready to take home, with a custom name and date on it. Roughly six or seven minutes a guest, twelve to fourteen for a couple. Watching her draw is half the appeal, so give her somewhere visible. All she needs is a trestle table, a chair and a spot out of the weather. Sydney based, and a favourite at weddings.
The show
It runs in three steps. Lillian takes a quick photo of your guests, so nobody has to stand still while a party is happening around them. Then she draws the portrait while they go back to enjoying themselves, or stand and watch her work, which honestly is half the appeal. By the end of the night they collect the finished illustration. Each one is A5 and comes in a clear sleeve so it survives the trip home. Allow six or seven minutes a guest, or twelve to fourteen for a couple.
On the day
A trestle sized table and a chair, somewhere sheltered. That's the lot. Everything else comes with her. One thing worth thinking about: put her where people can see her working, because guests watching the drawing happen is part of what they enjoy. Tucked in a corner behind the bar is a waste.
Performance options
Bookings run three, four or five hours, and the four hour option is the one most people land on. Every one of them includes the art materials, and each illustration gets a custom name and date added, which is what turns it from a drawing into a keepsake. How long you book comes down to guest numbers and how many you want to get through.
