About

Mystica Fay is a belly dancer for hire in Melbourne, VIC.

Twelve years of performing, and three distinct shows to book. Fire dance is the headline act, with fire poi and a fire headdress among the props, and a trained fire safety specialist there for every performance. There's belly dance, and there's LED and glow work for after dark. Mystica Fay builds each show around your theme, colour palette and music, and will use your favourite songs if you've got them, or work in with your DJ or band. Costumes, props and a Bluetooth speaker come along. She's happy to stay on afterwards for photos with guests. Melbourne based. Needs a flat four by four metre area with clearance overhead, and half an hour either side to set up and pack down. A Working with Children Check is held.

Watch

The show

The performance is built around your theme, your colour palette and the feel you're going for, down to the costume. She brings her own music, costumes and props, and is insured and safety-certified for the fire work. Communication is straightforward before the day, which takes one thing off your list. And afterwards, if you'd like, she'll stay out for photos with guests, which is usually where the phones come out anyway.

On the day

At least 4m x 4m on a flat, level surface, with plenty of clearance overhead. She'll bring a playlist and a wireless Bluetooth speaker unless you've arranged otherwise. Allow half an hour on site before the show to set up and another half hour afterwards to pack down. Lighting so the audience can actually see the performance needs to come from you or the venue. An assistant may come along to help with setup, safety and props, and doesn't count as a second performer.

Performance options

Several distinct shows, and you pick which suits. Fire dance is the headline, with fire poi, headdress, hip belt, palm torches, wings, fans, batons, sword balancing and fire eating among the props, always with a trained fire safety specialist present. LED and glow work covers poi, fans, hoop, dragon staff, isis wings and pixel props that can be programmed with your logo or images. Belly dance spans Raqs Sharqi, fusion and other SWANA-rooted styles, with an optional interactive workshop afterwards and hip scarves for guests to borrow. There's also carnival and circus roving, go-go dancers for a club-style night, a mermaid character for pool or dry land, and kids party characters including fairy, mermaid, clown and jester.
