About
Azura is a belly dancer for hire in Rosanna, VIC.
Azura has performed more than 8,000 solo bellydance shows, and it shows in the way she runs a room. Dazzling costumes, props, and a floorshow of five to seven minutes before she gets the audience up dancing, twenty minutes in total. Training came from Egyptian and Turkish stars including Soheir Zaki, Dina and Tanyeli. Along the way there have been cameos on Neighbours, Coxy's Big Break and Rove Live, red carpet appearances, City of Melbourne events and support slots alongside international acts. Larger Arabian Nights packages can bring in drummers, musicians, fire dancers and tarot readers. She needs a private changeroom and a speaker, and supplies the playlist. COC, WWCC and JSA all current.
The show
Old-school glamour, and Azura plays it for fun rather than mystique. Costumes that catch every light in the room, props, and a lot of interaction, because the aim is getting the audience up rather than watching politely from their chairs. It works for a mixed crowd, kids through to grandparents, and nobody feels like they've wandered into something they're not meant to enjoy. By the end of it the dance floor is hers.
On the day
Two things from the venue: a private changeroom, and a speaker she can plug into. The changeroom matters more than people expect, because the costumes take a bit of getting into and there's usually a change partway through. Music isn't your problem. She brings the playlist herself, so nobody's scrambling to find something suitable on the night.
Performance options
Beyond the solo booking there are Arabian Nights packages, which build a whole themed night out of several performers. Bellydancers, drummers, musicians, fire dancers, snake charmers, and tarot or coffee cup readers if you want fortunes told between sets. You pick the mix that fits the room.
