About
Kaylah is a belly dancer for hire in Melbourne, VIC.
Kaylah dances in costumes brought back from the Middle East, and the show has been a party favourite in Melbourne for a long time. Classical and modern bellydance, drum solos, bellydance and Bollywood fusion, and work alongside live musicians. Props include silk veil, finger cymbals, cane and Isis wings. Shows run anywhere from fifteen minutes to a full hour. The popular one is a twenty minute Classic Bellydance Show: a choreographed first half with veils, wings, cymbals, fans and a drumming finish, then a second half built on audience interaction where guests are pulled up to dance. That's the one that works at weddings, themed nights and big celebrations. Music covers Egypt, Lebanon, Turkey and Greece, plus Arabian, Moroccan and Bollywood fusion. She brings her own music to play through the venue system.
The show
Kaylah has been doing this a long time and the costumes come from the Middle East, which you notice straight away. The show is a party favourite and it earns that. Classical and modern bellydance, drum solos, and dancing alongside live musicians where the event has them. There's a bellydance and Bollywood fusion style too. Props run to silk veil, finger cymbals, cane and Isis wings.
On the day
She brings her own music on an mp3 player, which plays through the venue sound system. So the venue just needs something she can plug into.
Performance options
Shows run from fifteen minutes up to a full hour. The one most people book is the twenty minute Classic Bellydance Show. Its first half is choreographed and can take in silk veils, Isis wings, finger cymbals, fans and a fast dance to drumming. The second half turns to the audience, with guests invited up to dance with her. That's the version that works in large venues, at weddings, at themed events and at big celebrations, because it doesn't leave the room watching from a distance.
