About

Belly Dancer is a belly dancer for hire in Townsville, QLD.

Jordan Galliott dances out of Townsville in North Queensland and has toured internationally. Props are a big part of what she does: swords, finger cymbals, canes, silks, candelabras. A wedding performance typically opens with an entrance song, moves through a folkloric or fantasy piece with props, brings the guests in, and closes on an energetic drum solo, running twenty to thirty minutes or two shorter halves with a costume change. She'll adapt Western songs too, belly dancing to Arab covers of Get Lucky, Rock the Casbah and Chandelier. Getting the bride, groom or birthday person up to dance is one of the most requested moments. Weddings, birthdays, hens nights and variety shows. She also teaches workshops. Public liability insurance and music licensing in place.

Watch

The show

Every part of the performance gets set with you first: which dance styles, which props, what colour the costume is, what music plays and what mood the whole thing sits in. So a wedding and a corporate function don't get the same show with a different frock. Jordan brings real technical dancing and a presence that lifts a room, and the tailoring is the reason it fits your event rather than sitting awkwardly inside it.

On the day

A sound system, and a surface that suits dancing, indoors or outdoors either way. She also needs somewhere to change and somewhere secure to leave her costumes and props while she's performing. Worth sorting the changing space early, because venues often forget it until the day.

Performance options

Weddings get a traditional belly dance performance, said to bring the couple good luck, and it lifts the room while it's at it. The structure is an entrance song, then a folkloric or fantasy piece with props such as veils, fans, swords, finger cymbals or canes, then audience interaction, closing on an energetic drum solo. Twenty to thirty minutes works best, or two halves of fifteen to twenty with a costume change between them. Hens nights start with a belly dance class using hip scarves, which is as much fun as it sounds, followed by a performance. Birthdays follow the same shape as the wedding show. Everything is built around your venue and your event.
