About
Ricky Graceland is a tribute singer for hire in Sydney, NSW.
Ricky Graceland came to this from karaoke five years ago and has since become a regular on the Sydney Elvis circuit. He specialises in the 1968 comeback special and the Vegas years, with at least ten jumpsuits in the wardrobe and an act built on interaction as much as the singing. He's been selected to compete at both the Parkes Elvis Festival and Viva Surfers Paradise in the Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist competition for three years running, and now performs at Parkes venues during the festival itself. The vocals are strong and the energy stays up, running from the comeback material to the big seventies ballads. One thing he's clear about: he doesn't think he's Elvis. He's paying tribute.
The show
The energy runs high from the start, moving from the 1968 comeback era through to the big 70s ballads. Ricky Graceland has been building this tribute for five years, and in that time has been accepted to compete at both Parkes and Viva Surfers Paradise in the Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist competition three years running. He now performs at Parkes venues during the festival itself. The wardrobe runs to at least ten jumpsuits, the vocals are strong, and he works the audience hard, occasionally from the top of a table or a chair. He is clear that he doesn't think he's Elvis. There was one King. This is a tribute, played for fun rather than reverence.
On the day
Allow half an hour for setup at a smaller event, around 50 people. For a wedding or a larger corporate function, book in an hour at each end, setting up and packing down. Build that into the schedule when you're working out access times with the venue, particularly if another supplier needs the same space.
