About
Buddy Holly & Friends is a tribute show for hire in Melbourne, VIC.
That'll Be The Day, Peggy Sue, Rave On, Oh Boy: the Buddy Holly songbook, performed live by Melbourne's Ron Kingston. And the show doesn't stop at Holly. Expect hits from the Everly Brothers, Elvis Presley, Big Bopper and Bill Haley too, so the whole 1950s rock and roll era gets a run, from Rock Around The Clock to La Bamba. It's a one person show that carries its own PA and lights, needing nothing from the venue beyond a power point, which makes it an easy booking for clubs, morning melodies shows, weddings and parties. Public liability insurance is held for all shows.
Watch
The show
One man, a guitar and the whole of 1950s rock and roll. It's a fun show rather than a reverent one, and the songs have outlasted everyone in the room, which is rather the point. Guests who grew up with it get the originals played straight, and the ones who didn't tend to know more of the choruses than they expect. Timeless is a big claim, but this material has earned it.
On the day
A power point. That's genuinely all. The PA speakers and the lights come with the show and plug straight in, so there's no production to hire and nothing for your venue to organise beyond finding a socket near where you'd like the performance.
