About
Jane Germain is a singer-songwriter for hire in Perth, WA.
Bluegrass one minute, funk the next, with folk and blues in between. Jane Germain has won five WA Country Music Awards, headlined Country Arts funded tours through regional WA, held a residency in Beijing awarded by the Australia China Council and represented Australia at the 2010 World Expo in China. Six albums recorded, plus steady session work on other people's projects. Live, she swaps between guitar, clawhammer banjo and voice depending on the song, which keeps a solo set moving. The covers run through Fleetwood Mac, Joni Mitchell, Neil Young, JJ Cale, Steve Miller Band, Paul Simon, Chris Isaak and The Band. Dreams, Big Yellow Taxi, The Joker, Ode to Billie Joe. Strong interpretations with a rhythm underneath that keeps people listening. Available solo or as a duo, Perth based.

The show
Genres shift song to song. Jane moves through blues, bluegrass, rock and country blues, and the covers take in Paul Simon, Chris Isaak, Eric Clapton and Steve Miller Band, with Joni Mitchell, Stevie Nicks, Fleetwood Mac, Neil Young, JJ Cale and The Band also in there. She swaps instruments as she goes, guitar for one number, clawhammer banjo for the next, singing over both. That swapping is what keeps a solo set from settling into one texture, and it is why the performance suits a broad room rather than one narrow taste.
