About
Alfredo Lopes is a saxophone player for hire in Byron Bay, NSW.
Bossa nova, samba and jazz standards on saxophone, played with a light touch that suits ceremonies and long lunches. Dr Alfredo Lopes is a professional saxophonist, composer and educator with more than 30 years behind the instrument, and Brazilian jazz is his speciality. A set might move from The Girl From Ipanema to Fly Me to the Moon to La Vie en rose, all easy on the ears. He's based in Byron Bay and plays across Brisbane, Sydney, the Gold Coast and the Tweed Coast. Book him solo, or as a duo or trio; sets run 45 minutes, and the setup is minimal, just access to power for his amp and laptop.
Watch
The show
Live saxophone that sits under the conversation rather than over it. Dr Alfredo Lopes has been playing for more than 30 years, and his speciality is Brazilian jazz: the gentle pull of bossa nova and samba, threaded through jazz standards and instrumental arrangements chosen for the occasion. It works for a beachside celebration, a polished city function or a small ceremony, and the mood it creates is warm and unhurried. Book him solo, or in a flexible ensemble shaped around what you're planning.
On the day
There's very little to organise here. He needs a power outlet for the amplifier or speaker and for his laptop, and that's genuinely the whole list. Which makes him an easy act to slot into a ceremony or a long lunch without rearranging anything.
Performance options
Sets run 45 minutes, and you can book him three ways: solo saxophone, as a duo or as a trio.
