One Drop is a reggae band for hire in Cairns, QLD.
Six pieces, Cairns based, and a reggae repertoire built from the road. One Drop Reggae Band have supported UB40, O'Yaba and Lucky Dube, and those catalogues sit right through the setlist alongside Peter Tosh, Toots and the Maytals, Alpha Blondy and Gregory Isaacs. Their own songs go in too, among them Find You on the Other Side, My People, Teach Them and Hit You with My Music. This is an Indigenous Australian band playing the music properly, with three vocal microphones, three keyboards, steel pan, bass, guitar and drums when the full rig goes up. Suits festivals, functions, parties and any room in far north Queensland that wants the tempo to sit right in the pocket all night.
On the day
Six players means a real channel list. Three vocal microphones on boom stands, plus one on the steel pan. Direct boxes for the three keyboards and another for the acoustic guitar. The bass player brings a five string and an amp, the guitarist brings his own amp, and there is a full drum kit. On stage they want three foldback wedges and two side fills so the rhythm section can hear each other properly. If your venue has a house system and an engineer, pass this list on early. If it does not, say so when you enquire so the right gear can be arranged.
