About
Lauren & Ricky is a musical duo for hire in Adelaide, SA.
Relaxed is the whole idea here. Lauren & Ricky play the hits and the classics at a volume that lets people talk, then lift it when the room is ready to move. Fleetwood Mac, Aretha Franklin, Amy Winehouse, Ed Sheeran, and plenty of current material alongside them. Guitar, two voices and a loop pedal on a few songs. They run a wireless Bose rig for spots without power and a larger Yamaha PA when there's a socket nearby. Wineries, pubs, weddings and venue residencies are their usual ground.
The show
Relaxed, and they mean it. Lauren & Ricky keep things easy from the first message through to the last song, which takes a surprising amount of pressure out of organising a night. On the day you get two people who are good company as well as good players. The set stays at a level people can talk over, then lifts when the room wants to move. It's a shift they make by reading the crowd, not by clock.
On the day
They carry two rigs and pick between them based on your venue. Where there's a socket, the larger Yamaha duo PA goes in and gives them full range with guitar and both voices. Where there isn't, the wireless Bose setup covers it, though it's the smaller of the two, so backing vocals want mains behind them for the fuller sound. A loop pedal comes out on a few songs. Tell them what power you've got and they'll bring the right one.
