Louise Messenger sings, Melanie Pierides sings and plays guitar, and between them The Girls Next Door cover a lot of ground. Their song list runs from current chart material back through classic pop and rock, and they build a set to fit the venue rather than playing the same night everywhere. Harmonies are the strong suit. The unplugged approach means they work as comfortably in the front bar of a local pub as they do at a formal function in Adelaide, which is not something every duo can honestly claim. I had previously seen the Girls Next Door at the Caledonian Hotel in Robe earlier in 2014 and, as the event organiser for our firm, I recommended them to our Board to perform at our function and we were certainly not disappointed. Unfortunately, Louise Messenger was unavailable on the night of our function but Melanie held her own and gave a very enjoyable performance.Highly recommended.
