About
Steve Giles is a magician for hire in Brisbane, QLD.
Steve Giles works the room rather than a stage. Close-up magic and mentalism, performed while guests are standing about with a drink, which is exactly when a party needs something to happen. It breaks the ice between people who have never met, and it fills those dead patches while everyone waits for the speeches or the meal to start. The magic is hands-on and lands with any age group in the circle. Brisbane based, and he takes it to corporate dinners, banquets, client hospitality nights, weddings and private gatherings. Setup requirements: none at all.
The show
Close-up magic, done at arm's length rather than from a stage. Steve moves between small groups while guests are holding a drink, and the effects happen in their hands and under their noses, close enough that there is nowhere to hide. Bemused, then confused, then properly entertained is the usual order of things. It suits the standing-around parts of an event, and because it comes to people rather than asking them to sit and watch, nobody has to commit to anything.
