About
Scott Painter is a magician for hire in Brisbane, QLD.
Close up magic done at conversational distance, which means no stage, no microphone and no announcement. Scott Painter moves through a room, works with whoever's in front of him, and matches the effects to the theme of the event and the personality of the people watching. The talking matters as much as the tricks here, and he's deliberate about keeping it friendly and respectful for everyone in the group. All he needs is somewhere to park a backpack sized bag and a small table or bench to prepare on. Brisbane based, and books for corporate events, weddings and roving work.
The show
The conversation is half of it. Whether Scott is working a whole group or one person at a time, the magic comes wrapped in friendly talk, and he takes care to keep the space respectful and safe for whoever is watching. Effects get chosen to match the theme of the event and, just as much, the personalities of the guests in front of him. That tailoring is something he genuinely enjoys, and it shows in how the room responds.
On the day
The list is very short. Scott needs a corner to leave his bag of tricks in when it is not in his hands, roughly the size of a small backpack, plus a bench or little table where he can get effects ready. Because the magic happens walking around the room, there is no call for a stage or a microphone.
