The show
Stand-up and magic in the one show, with the audience pulled into it rather than watching from a distance. The walkaround is where it really works, though. Pete says hello to a group, shows them something they can't explain, and suddenly people are talking. Guests from other tables wander over to see what the fuss is. He moves on, and the group he's left behind spends the next ten minutes arguing about how he did it. A room that started stiff and polite ends up feeling like a party, which is the whole point of booking it.
On the day
The stage show needs a microphone and lighting good enough for the audience to see his hands properly by. Close work falls flat when people can't see what's happening, so the lighting matters more here than it would for a band.
