About
Humphrey Cornthwaite is a magician for hire in Canberra, ACT.
Canberra has been home for the past fifteen years, so Humphrey Cornthwaite counts as a local. He's a member of the Magic Circle, which you don't join by applying: you perform in front of your peers and they decide. Close-up work covers cards, rope, escapes, silks, coins and a bit of string. The stage show takes in a straitjacket escape, cups and balls, cards, routines with your money rather than his, and razors, which he eats. Audience participation is part of it. The whole thing is self-contained and can be tailored to the event, which makes him a fit for corporate functions, weddings, parties and roving spots. He also works as a wedding MC.

The show
To be entertained, which sounds obvious until you've sat through the alternative. Humphrey is a member of the Magic Circle, and the way you get in is by performing your act in front of other magicians and letting them decide. They decided he was good enough. His view is that if a room full of people who know exactly how every trick works were happy with it, you should be too.
