About
Damien Boog is a magician for hire in Melbourne, VIC.
Damien Boog does most of his work at arm's length, close enough that you can see his hands. He's a Melbourne mentalist and magician who specialises in roving, on the view that magic lands much harder when it happens in front of you, or in your own palms. Mind-reading, thought-planting, that class of effect, built from real psychological technique rather than props, and delivered with a good deal of comedy along the way. Corporate events, weddings, festivals and parties. Roving needs no set-up at all, he simply arrives ready. A stage show needs a few minutes for a wireless mic. Public liability cover.
Watch
The show
Most of this happens close enough that you can watch his hands the whole time. Damien roves rather than works from a stage, on the view that the trick hits harder when it's happening a metre in front of you, or in your own palms. The effects lean towards mind reading and thought planting, built out of psychological technique rather than boxes and props. And it's funny. He's talking with your guests the whole way through, which is what turns a magic trick into the thing people are still arguing about in the car home.
On the day
For roving, nothing at all. He arrives and starts, so there's no soundcheck slot to carve out of your run sheet and no corner of the room taken over by gear. If you want the stage show instead, all he needs is a few minutes beforehand to sort out a wireless microphone. That's it either way. Worth knowing if your venue is tight on space or your timings are already packed.
