About
Irwell Street String Band is a jazz band for hire in Melbourne, VIC.
Led by vocalist Hetty Kate, the Irwell Street String Band draws its repertoire from the 1920s to the 1950s. Songs associated with Peggy Lee, Billie Holiday and Frank Sinatra sit alongside less familiar finds from the period. The Melbourne group performs as a quartet, with smaller options pairing voice and guitar or adding bass for a trio. Its performance history includes the Wangaratta and Eltham jazz festivals.
