About
Jontae is a guitarist for hire in Mudgeeraba, QLD.
Electric guitar, a loop pedal and a stack of beats. That's the whole rig, and Jontae builds a full sound out of it on the spot, layering funk, jazz and soul lines over grooves that get put together while you watch. It's instrumental music with a lot of feel in it, and it works just as well as the sound in the room as it does when people stop and pay attention. Setting up is easy. Power, and a PA if there isn't one already at the venue. Based on the Gold Coast, at Mudgeeraba, and available as a soloist for events across Queensland.
The show
One guitar, a loop pedal and a pile of beats, and Jontae builds the rest in front of you. Funk lines go down, then jazz phrasing over the top, then something soulful across both, all of it stacked live so you watch the track assemble itself. There are no vocals to follow, which makes it easy music to have going while people arrive and eat. It also rewards anyone who stops and actually listens, because the way the layers get put together is half the show.
