Palmwoods is the hinterland town with a band. A cover band gives it as home, and for a place with a main street, a station and the Montville ridge behind it, that's the act a lot of people here will end up booking for a fiftieth at the hall or a reception under the trees. The rest of the ten is an aerial act at Chevallum next door and Buderim's line-up ten minutes towards the coast, a DJ, another cover band, a soloist, a singer, a trivia host and a psychic, with a third cover band and a face painter from Sunshine Coast addresses after them. Three cover bands in ten is unusual for the hinterland, and I'd make the most of it.
Montville is the reason a lot of people land on this page. The range road climbs out of Palmwoods to the wedding chapels and guesthouses along the ridge, and the acts on this list are as close to them as Maleny's are, from the bottom of the hill rather than along the top. The pool behind the ten is the Sunshine Coast's, singers and wedding singers first, then soloists, duos and the bands, so the ceremony singer the first screen lacks is a scroll away rather than a drive.
Top picks are the nearby performers with the most visible reviews, then rating, then the closest; further afield the closest come first, and premium listings break remaining ties. Distances are straight-line from Palmwoods. Ask each act whether they travel to your venue and what that costs.
Per hour isn't how the DJ at Buderim, or any DJ on the coast, will quote you; they price the whole booking, and a hinterland hall party with the venue's power and a wedding on the Montville ridge with a ceremony rig are two very different nights. Give the hours, the site and the finish time and let them put a number on it. The from-price on the DJ card above is where they start.
All the time; the ridge venues are the hinterland's main wedding work and the Palmwoods band is the nearest one to them. Expect the climb to appear as a small loading from a Buderim act and not at all from the town's, and expect any of them to ask about the finish time, because coming down the range at midnight in fog is slow. Tell them which venue so they know which road.
Not automatically. Being in town saves a ten-minute drive and buys some local knowledge of the halls, but the Buderim band and the Sunshine Coast band a few minutes further on may suit your crowd's decades better, and none of the three prices the distance. Watch all three live videos, ask each what their third set looks like, and decide on that.
The climb from Palmwoods to Montville is short but winding, and a band with a trailer takes it slowly. Give the venue's exact spot on the range so the act can price the climb and plan the load-in.
A cover band based in Palmwoods has played the local halls, which means fewer questions about power and parking. Ask for a live video anyway; being local is a start, not a reason.
Not every party wants a dance floor. The trivia host and the psychic on this list are ten minutes away and turn a long lunch or a retirement do into something with a shape.
