About
Nathan Squire is a folk singer for hire in Sunshine Coast, QLD.
Silky vocals and detailed guitar work, held at a volume that lets people talk. Nathan Squire plays solo, sings in the indie-folk duo Two for Joy, and can bring a full band. The material runs from classic covers to his own folk-leaning originals, drawing on Kenny Rogers, Joni Mitchell, Van Morrison, Cold Chisel, Sam Cooke, Angus and Julia Stone, Passenger, The Weeknd, John Mayer and Bon Iver. The whole point is a relaxed room that never needs the volume pushed, with the vocal clear and sitting out front. Based on the Sunshine Coast. If there's no power for a longer set he'll bring a battery, and if there's no shade he'll bring a gazebo.
Watch
On the day
For anything over 30 minutes Nathan Squire needs mains power, so tell him at enquiry if your spot doesn't have any and he'll bring a battery instead. The other thing worth mentioning is shade. Playing in full sun is hard on both the performer and the instruments, so if there's no natural cover where you want him set up, he'll pack a gazebo and bring that along too.
Performance options
Three configurations here. Nathan Squire solo, the duo, or the full band, and the choice mostly comes down to how big the room is and whether you want people dancing or talking. Solo suits a ceremony or a long relaxed afternoon. The band is for when the night has to move. Tell him what the event is when you enquire and he'll tell you which one he'd send.
