About
Serpent of Fire is a fire performer for hire in Denmark, WA.
Fire performance out of Denmark in Western Australia, with costumes hand-made for each character rather than pulled off a rack. Serpent of Fire lean towards shows with something behind them, meaningful rather than just bright, and they'll rove, work a stage or run a circus workshop. Performers are trained in fire safety rules. They hold public liability cover, a DFES fire ban exemption and working with children checks. Space needs are modest: a 2x2m podium for a solo, 4x4m for one or two fire performers, and set-up runs under five minutes for roving. Ten for a choreographed show.

The show
Costuming is where this act starts. Every character has clothing made by hand for it, not hired, and that shows up in the photographs. The performances themselves lean toward meaning rather than spectacle for its own sake, so guests tend to come away moved as well as impressed. Performers are trained in fire safety rules and regulations, and the act holds public liability cover along with a DFES fire ban exemption. Attention to detail runs through the communication as well as the show, which makes the planning side straightforward.
On the day
Space depends on the show. A solo podium performance wants 2x2 metres, one or two fire performers need 4x4, three or four need 6x5, and anything smaller is worth a conversation rather than a no. Two metres of overhead clearance either way, nothing hanging into the space. Indoors, the room must be well ventilated with alarms and sprinklers switched off for the duration. Outdoors, wind or rain can stop it. Darkness is required throughout. Roving takes under five minutes to set up, a choreographed show around ten.
