About
Olga is an event services business for hire in Melbourne, VIC.
Olga paints your wedding as it happens. She arrives about an hour before guests do, sets up in roughly two metres square of floor, and works in contemporary impressionist style, closer to Monet or Van Gogh than to a photograph, except the faces are ones you know. Guests wander over, watch, ask questions. That's part of it. She photographs the key moment you've agreed on beforehand, then keeps painting through the night, and the finished piece gets revealed before the evening ends. Natural light helps. She brings everything else herself. What you're left with isn't a print or a keepsake, it's a canvas with the energy of the day still in the brushwork.
The show
Olga turns up an hour ahead of your guests, sets up and starts painting straight away. You agree on the key moment beforehand, she photographs it, then keeps working through the night while the party goes on around her. Guests are welcome to come over, watch the canvas fill in and ask her about it. Most do. At the end of the evening there's a reveal of the finished painting, which tends to stop the room for a minute.
On the day
About two metres by two metres of floor is all she takes up. Natural light is preferred, so a spot near a window or an open marquee side works well. Everything else, easel, paints, canvas, comes with her.
Performance options
Three canvas sizes are on offer and the choice is really about how much wall you want to fill. The largest is 66 by 86 centimetres, the middle option 61 by 71, and the smallest 50 by 70. Everything else about the day works the same whichever you pick: Olga arrives ahead of your guests, paints through the evening and reveals the finished canvas before the night wraps up.
