About
Ives Wong is an event services business for hire in Melbourne, VIC.
Ives Wong draws your guests while they watch. Working live at Melbourne weddings, brand activations and events, she sketches full portraits in six to ten minutes depending on how many people are in the frame, catching faces and the cut of an outfit at the same time. Classically trained for over 15 years, and it shows in the linework. Each piece is finished and sealed on the spot, so people go home with something real rather than a phone photo. The queue tends to become its own bit of entertainment, all smiles and giggles while people wait their turn. She needs a sheltered spot with decent light and a power point.
Watch
The show
Guests get drawn while they wait, and each portrait takes six to ten minutes depending on how many people are in it. Quick, but not rushed looking, because the detail is still there. Every illustration is specific to the person in front of her, so nobody goes home with something generic. The waiting part turns into its own bit of entertainment, plenty of smiles and giggles as people watch a face appear on the paper. And the finished pieces are polished enough that they don't end up in a drawer.
On the day
She needs a spot that's safe and sheltered, so if she's outdoors there has to be proper cover from the weather. Lighting matters more than people expect, because she's working on detail, so somewhere with decent light. And a power outlet within reach.
Performance options
Three lengths, and the difference is how many guests get drawn and what they're drawn on. The three hour session covers roughly 30 to 40 people, sketched on thick matt paper stock. Four hours gets to about 50 to 60, drawn on smooth matt paper for a softer feel, with your logo printed on each sheet beforehand. Five hours covers 70 to 80, on cream linen stock, again with the custom logo. All three are full body portraits with facial features, the outfit and the colours captured, drawn with Copic markers, and every piece goes home in a protective sleeve or envelope. Paper upgrades are available on the shorter two.
