iampoppy Designs is an event services business for hire in Gold Coast, QLD.
The idea is simple: your wedding gets painted while it's happening. iampoppy Designs sets up about an hour before the ceremony, captures it live as it unfolds, then keeps working through canape hour and into the reception while guests wander over to watch. By the end of the night the canvas is roughly 80 per cent there, with the last refinements finished back in the studio. Framing and delivery are handled. There's a quicker option too, small guest portrait sketches people take home on the night. Easel, lighting and gear all come with the artist. All that's needed on site is power.
The show
It starts with a conversation about what you most want on the canvas, so the finished piece reflects your day rather than a generic scene. The artist arrives roughly an hour ahead of the ceremony, paints it live as it happens, then keeps going through canape hour while guests drift over to watch, and on into the reception. The canvas is about 80 per cent there by the end of the night, with the last details finished in the studio. Framing and delivery are included. Guest portraits work differently: an assistant photographs people and takes their names, each small portrait takes roughly five minutes, and it goes straight into the guest's hands. Those bookings are hourly.
On the day
Power access is the one thing that has to be there. Everything else comes with the artist: easel, lighting and all the painting gear for a live canvas, or a table and lighting for guest portraits. For portraits you'll also need to put out two chairs. A vendor meal is asked for on live painting bookings, and two meals on portrait bookings running longer than three hours.
