About
Zen Sean is a DJ for hire in Reedy Creek, QLD.
One person, a full band sound. Zen Sean is a looping artist who stacks live percussion, guitar and bass into something much bigger than a bloke with an acoustic, moving through folk, pop, rock, hip hop, reggae and his own material. The same brain runs the DJ side, backed by a library of tens of thousands of tracks, so requests almost always get met. He arrives about an hour before start time so nothing runs late, uses in ear monitors so you keep full control of the room volume, and covers the breaks with music while he catches his breath. For DJ work he turns up in a suit. He can supply front of house speakers, lighting and a water based smoke machine that will not trip your alarms. Based at Reedy Creek on the Gold Coast. Insured.
Watch
The show
He arrives about an hour before start time, finds you, gets a feel for the space and meets the staff, then sets up. That buffer is deliberate. It absorbs whatever goes sideways so the music still starts on time. In ear monitors mean you keep full control of the room volume without the performance suffering for it. Between sets he covers the gap with music while he has a drink and gets his breath back, and he stays quiet and out of the way during the breaks. For DJ work he turns up in a suit.
On the day
Room for a pedal board and a drum pad stand, a power point within reach, and a sensible patch of space he can play in for a few hours. That's the base requirement. Front of house speakers, lighting and a smoke machine can all come from him as options. The smoke is water based, so it won't set off your venue's alarms, which is the question most venues ask first.
Performance options
Live looping sets come in three lengths: three, four or five sets of 45 minutes, which works out to a three, four or five hour booking. DJ bookings run as three hour or five hour packages, in house, club, pub or restaurant styles. Weddings are put together differently, with more equipment, lighting and music prepared around the couple in advance. And if you want live music for the early part and a DJ later, the two can be combined into one booking.
