About
DJ Reckless Robin is a DJ for hire in Brisbane, QLD.
Actual records, spinning on actual turntables. That's the pitch here, and it's a rare one. The crate at home runs to roughly 4,000 LPs and 2,500 seven and twelve inch singles, so most genres are covered on wax, and about 350 singles plus 50 albums make the trip to your event. Rock and roll, blues, ska, punk, soul, pop and the decades from the 60s through the 90s. A laptop and DJ software come along too, for anything the vinyl can't reach. Turntables, speakers, cordless mic and some lighting are all part of it. You'll need a space around 4m by 2m and a power point. Song choices get made as the night moves, not decided in advance.
The show
Nothing is decided in advance. Robin picks the next record based on what the room is doing right now, and that live judgement is what keeps a floor busy through an evening instead of losing it halfway. Vinyl gives your night a different character too. Guests notice the records, the sleeves, the fact that someone is actually working rather than watching a playlist run itself. He treats every booking as somebody's important night, because it is.
On the day
Set aside an area about 4 metres by 2 metres and make sure there's a power point within reach of it. Turntables, records and crates take a bit more room than a laptop does, so it's worth checking the space with your venue before the tables go in.
Song list
Having a collection of about 4000 lp’s and 2500 7’’ & 12’’ singles. I can cover most genres with vinyl.
I will also bring my laptop and DJ software to use if needed.
