About
The Blackwoods Three is a cover band for hire in Melbourne, VIC.
Three musicians with more than 40 years of playing between them, working out of Melbourne. The Blackwoods Three build sets around old fashioned rock and roll with blues, funk and pop mixed in, drawing on the Rolling Stones, Bowie, Pink Floyd, Stevie Wonder, Australian Crawl, AC/DC, Cold Chisel, The Angels and Springsteen. A standard booking is three 45 minute sets, though those tend to stretch, and they'll open acoustic while guests are finishing their meals. Full PA with subs, wireless soundcheck, lighting, and music through the breaks all come as part of it. They need about 3m by 3m under cover, a flat surface for the drums and a standard power point.
The show
Old fashioned rock and roll with blues, funk and pop pushed through it, from three players with more than 40 years between them. The usual booking is three 45 minute sets, and honestly those tend to run long, which puts you closer to four hours of music. They can open with acoustic material while people are still finishing their meals, then build from there. Audience interaction is the point for them rather than a bonus. Expect the Stones, Bowie, Pink Floyd, Australian Crawl, AC/DC, Cold Chisel and Springsteen through the night, and music playing through the set breaks so the room doesn't go flat.
On the day
About 3m by 3m under cover, a standard 240V power point, and a flat hard surface for the drum kit. That last one catches people out at garden parties: a kit on soft lawn sinks and shifts, so if the spot you have in mind is grass, a sheet of ply or a small platform sorts it. They bring the full PA with sub, front of house speakers, lighting and a wireless sound check, so the venue doesn't need a system.
