About
Single Income is a cover band for hire in Melbourne, VIC.
Three 45 minute sets, two lead vocalists trading lines and stacking harmonies, and enough rock classics to keep a Melbourne dance floor honest. Single Income read the room before they read the set list. A dinner crowd gets one version of the night, a packed floor after ten gets another, and the band shifts between the two without announcing it. Repertoire runs from The Angels and Australian Crawl through Pat Benatar, Bad Company and Jet. They bring professional sound and lighting, and they will run their own PA and lights if the venue has none. Loading access near the door and 90 minutes for setup and soundcheck is all they ask.
The show
Powerhouse vocals, big harmonies and a band that's tight enough to shift gears without telling you they're doing it. Single Income read the room and build each set to match: a laid-back dinner crowd gets one thing, a packed floor after ten gets an all-out rock show. Rock classics, party favourites and modern hits make up most of it. And the sound is properly handled, so the energy in the room isn't fighting a bad mix.
On the day
They need a stage area of at least five metres wide by three deep, plus two 240 volt outlets, ideally on separate circuits. Access to that stage 90 minutes before they play covers setup and sound check. Parking and loading access near the entrance saves everyone a lot of walking with heavy boxes. If your venue supplies the PA it needs foldback monitors and lighting; otherwise the band can bring a full system for an added fee. Outdoors, the performance area has to be weather protected.
Performance options
Two ways to take them. The full band on its own, which works when the room already has a rig and somebody who knows how to drive it. Or the full band with their PA system and a sound person, which is the version where you stop worrying about how it sounds and let someone whose job that is handle it.
